70-410 Objective 3.3 – Creating and Configuring Virtual Networks on Hyper-V 2012 R2 Part 1

In this video we will be investigating Objective 3.3 Creating and Configuring Virtual Networks on Hyper-V. This video covers part one of the lecture notes for the Objective. We will explore the Hyper-V Virtual Switch and it capabilities and characteristics compare to a regular switch. We will also look at the three types of switches that can be created in the Virtual Switch Manger. Such as a Private Switch, an External Switch, and an Internal Switch. We will examine all three of these switch types in depth and understand the connections inside of the Hyper-V hypervisor as well as the Parent Partition. We will also examine a Hybrid environment where we use two or more types of switches to allow servers to communicate on Hyper-V. We investigate the Virtual Switch Manager and understand options for the Virtual Switches. We then explore the Virtual MAC Address Pool use for automatic assignment of MAC addresses for Virtual Network Cards.
